Student Payments - Terms and Conditions
By using the CMU Student Payment Website, you agree to the terms below, which explain how your payments are processed and applied to your student account.
1. Purpose of the Site
This site is used only to make payments toward your student account.
CMU Payments does not display student charges and balances. For detailed billing information, students must refer to Caribbean Maritime University’s official student records system (SRS) or Treasury office.
2. Processing of Payments
When you make a payment through this site, the payment is sent to the Caribbean Maritime University’s financial systems and applied to your student account according to the accounting rules set by the Treasury.
3. How Payments Are Applied
Payments are applied automatically based on the Treasury’s reconciliation rules. This includes both fee type priority and oldest-to-newest application.
3.1 Fee Type Priority (Order of Categories)
Your payment will be applied in the following order:
Payments are first applied to the student's outstanding balance (if applicable)
Then for the current academic year:
- Auxiliary Fees for the current academic year(applied first)
- Tuition Fees (applied next)
- Other Charges (applied last)
3.2 Oldest Charges First (Within Each Category)
Within each category listed above, payments are applied to the oldest outstanding charge first, then the next oldest, and so on.
If the payment amount is more than the oldest charge, the remaining amount will continue to be applied to the next charge until the payment is fully used or there are no charges left.
A single payment may therefore be applied across multiple charges.
4. Student Control Over Allocation
Students cannot choose or change how payments are applied. Payment allocation is done by the financial systems of the institution.
5. Payment Confirmation
After a payment is submitted, a confirmation or receipt may be provided.
Please note that posting of payments to your student account may take some time due to processing or banking delays.
6. Accuracy and Timing
The University is not responsible for delays caused by:
- banking or payment processor issues, or
- incorrect information entered by the student
Payments are considered final once successfully processed.
7. Official Records
Caribbean Maritime University’s official financial systems remain the final authority for all charges, payment allocation, and account balances. Any discrepancies will be resolved in accordance with the financial policies of the Treasury.
8. Student Responsibilities
Students are responsible for:
- ensuring payments are made to the correct student account,
- entering accurate payment details, and
- keeping payment confirmations for their records.
9. Agreement
By using this site and submitting a payment, you confirm that you understand and accept these Terms & Conditions.
